Daniel Abrahams, PhD

Founder & CEO

Daniel Abrahams is a seasoned climate professional with experience across government, academia, and the private sector. He founded BeechTree to help organizations meet the climate crisis with the right talent and technical expertise. With a background spanning policy, science, and executive search, Daniel brings a rare ability to navigate complex climate challenges and the leadership needed to solve them.

Prior to launching BeechTree, Daniel proudly spent five years at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), where he led USAID's climate security portfolio—both providing technical assistance for USAID programming and serving as a policy liaison to the White House. His work also covered natural climate solutions, critical minerals, and resource governance. He began his federal service as an American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Science & Technology Policy Fellow—a fellowship that places biophysical and social scientists inside critical teams within the federal government.

Daniel began his career at the recruitment firm Michael Page International, where over the course of five years he helped build the Public Accounting team and led dozens of senior searches at international accounting firms. He later brought his search expertise to On-Ramps, where he worked on multiple retained senior searches for not-for-profit and socially driven for-profit organizations.

He holds a PhD in Geography from the University of South Carolina, a Master’s in Public Policy from Johns Hopkins University, and a BS in Business from Quinnipiac University. He has held climate- and environment-focused academic appointments at Colby College, Lehigh University, and the University of South Carolina. He regularly writes and speaks on climate issues for both specialized and general audiences—some examples can be seen here.

When not working, he can be found re-wilding his Virginia home, woodworking, or (most often) wandering woods and navigating waterways with his wife and daughter.
