Thought Leadership and Media

Perspectives Grounded in Practice.

BeechTree was founded by practitioners who have spent their careers working across climate change, environmental policy, international development, resilience, and related fields.

We continue to contribute to those conversations through original research and analysis, The Understory newsletter, academic publications, collaborations with experts across our network, and select speaking engagements.

The Understory

Perspectives on the forces reshaping climate, environment, and the people doing the work.

The Understory is BeechTree's home for original research, analysis, and commentary on the issues shaping the sectors we serve. We write about the substance of the work, from climate risk and resilience to critical minerals and environmental policy, alongside the shifts affecting the organizations and professionals responsible for delivering it.

Our perspective sits at the intersection of practitioner experience and the talent market, giving us a view into both how these fields are changing and what those changes mean for the people and organizations working within them.

Research and Collaboration.

Our team continues to contribute to academic and applied research across climate change, food security, nutrition, international development, and related fields. See examples of Daniel's work here and Andrea's here

We also collaborate with practitioners and subject-matter experts across our network to bring additional perspectives to questions where disciplines, sectors, and institutions intersect.

These relationships are an extension of how BeechTree works: drawing on deep practitioner networks to understand complex problems from the people closest to them.

Speaking and Commentary

BeechTree's principals are available for select speaking engagements, expert commentary, and conversations related to their areas of expertise.

Topics include climate change and resilience, climate security, critical minerals, international development, food security and nutrition, and the changing climate and environmental workforce.
